Urban Adveturers

We had a beautiful day for our Urban Adventure!  The temperatures were in the upper 70s and our adventurers were excited about exploring.  Each group had a different adventure.  The different starting points were: The City County Building, The State Capitol, The Public Library, Babcock Hall, Chamberlain Hall, and Union South.  Students were asked to get signatures from various people, ask questions about jobs, our community and get photos.  All of our groups worked well together.  A big focus of this trip is using all of our collaboration and communication skills we have nurtured all year as we get to know our community a bit better.  At the end of our trip, we met at the Memorial Union to get some ice cream (locally made at Babcock Hall!)  Here are a few photos.  a more extensive collection can be found using this LINK.

After the adventure, students made collages representing their adventure and then shared them with the group.

Plants

During science we have donned our botanist hats. Student botanist have learned about various aspects of plant growth and development.  We began our study looking at the different parts of a plant and the role each of these parts have. We then studied the symbiotic relationship between plants and people.  Currently, students are conducting various experiments based on what plants need to survive.  Students are experimenting with light, soil and water.  next up, we will be learning more about plant adaptations.
