Pajama Day!

There is nothing better about elementary school than a Friday that is a pajama day.  Students and teachers took full advantage of wearing their comfy jammies or sweats.  They also brought along a treasured stuffed animal.  Here are some photos for you to enjoy.

As you can see we had a colorful array of fleece and flannel.

The Effigy Mounds
Last Friday, the Lily Pad took a hike along the shores of Lake Monona to visit the effigy mounds on Lakeland Avenue.  It was a beautiful day and we had fantastic vistas of the Lake from the high banks of the lake. We first passed by a panther shaped water spirit mound and then headed to the bear and lynx mound.  This park is graced with a beautiful bronze sculpture that honors the Mound Builders.

Thanks to Zoe's mom,  Christine, the third grade at Marquette had a special visitor.  Bob Birmingham, former State Archeologist and renowned effigy mound expert, was a guest speaker and taught the students about the mounds and the Ho-Chunk people. What an honor to have such a special visitor!  Thanks, Mr. Birmingham!
Remember, next week is a short week.  Students are only in school Monday-Wednesday due to the Thanksgiving Break.  There will be one homework assignment (a persuasive writing assignment) that will be given on Monday and due Wednesday.

I apologize for the brevity of this post.  I have been nursing my husband back into shape following his hip replacement.  I have great respect for health care providers.  Definitely not my calling!
