A Short Post for a Short Week

I hope you all had a safe and fun-filled Thanksgiving.  Here are a few things we did over the past week.  This post will be brief but full of photos!

Congratulations to these published authors!
The third graders were excited to celebrate their accomplishments as published authors.  Students got into small listening groups and shared their personal narratives with each other.

Here are some examples for the finished products! The authors included illustrations, title pages, about the author sections and a space for readers' comments.

The students finished up their posters about the early life of the Hochungra people in the Madison area. On Friday, they presented their posters to the rest of the class.

We have the posters displayed outside of our classroom and they will be available for viewing during the December 4 Art's Night at Marquette.

This week kicked off our study of Earth Materials.  Ms. Wimmler put together a hands on (and edible) activity modeling the layers of the earth.  Needless to say, the students enjoy this activity immensely!

You are as sly as a fox! That was a piece of cake! Does the cat have your tongue? We are learning about idioms and students have made books to help explain their true meanings.
