Students each made a bag and "packed" this bag with items they would take with them on their journey.
Students were each assigned a passport and issued tickets to determine if they were traveling first class, second class or steerage. Most of the third grade had the steerage experience. This was rough for them.
Captain Enger had all passengers board the ship and their journey began.

Once the voyage ended, the students went through several stations prior to their entry into America.
On Thursday, students processed this experience and then wrote a written reflection. Thank you to our wonderful UW student teachers for making this experience possible!
Should There Be Zoos?
The students finished their group essays either for or against zoos. Here are their final products:
This week students selected a topic research and write their own opinion essay. Topics ranged from school uniforms to kids participating in extreme sports to the banishment of the penny. Students are reading information, both pro and con for their topic, taking a stand and then composing an essay.
