Urban Adventure Perfection

We had a PERFECT day for our classroom Urban Adventure.  This is one of my favorite things we do in the year.  Students work together in a small cooperative group exploring a portion of our community.  The students are armed with a clipboard, a few pens and a set of questions.  They and their adult chaperones are dropped off somewhere in the city and then they work their way to the Memorial Union.  Along the way, they work cooperatively to learn more about the our amazing city.
Here are a few glimpses into the adventures.

Twin Day

We have had a lot of fun Spirit Days thanks to the creative work of the Marquette Student Council.  Last Thursday was Twin Day.  Here are a few shots of our "twins".

Well, not really twins but we both had coral on!

Animal Research

Our final writing/research project involves students researching an animal with the focus question: Would My Animal Be a Good Fit for the Zoo?  We brainstormed questions a zookeeper must ask in order to determine how they can keep an animal healthy, happy, safe and comfortable.  We had the opportunity to interview a professional zoo keeper, Ms. Miller's cousin, who works as a ranger at the Houston Zoo.

Students are researching an animal and will be presenting their opinion about whether or not their animal would be a fit for a zoo.

Earth Day Celebration

The third grade worked together to clean up our school grounds in honor of Earth Day.  Students raked, picked up trash and weeded the planters to make our grounds cleaner and healthier.
