The students worked hard on writing this year and our final project was no exception! They spent time doing research on an animal to decide if the animal would be a good fit for the zoo. In their research they picked three areas to explore ( food, habitat, entertainment...) They used the lens of a zookeeper trying to decide if the animal could be safe, comfortable and healthy in a zoo. These projects were then published using a program called TACKK. The link to our projects is below. If you haven't already done so, check them out!
Our third grade students spent sometime visiting fourth grade classrooms. We grouped third and fourth grade students together and allowed out third graders to ask important questions about next year. We learned about homework, celebrations, field trips, etc.
We took math outdoors last week and collected data. Student partnerships measured and graphed how far they were able to spit pumpkin and sun flower seeds. A GREAT time was had by all. Students were able to use their measuring skills, mental math, data collection, graphing skills and HOT air all in one! :)
As if our students did not do ENOUGH writing, we also finished putting together our poetry anthologies. Students worked fourth quarter creating poems. These poems were collected and put together in individual books. We celebrated our writing with a poetry reading followed by a reception of all the poets. The poems were beautifully written and the students were so proud to be able to share their work with such an appreciative audience.
Here are some photos of our poets
Who said that cleaning isn't fun. A time honored tradition in The Lily Pad is to give our desks a thorough cleaning with....SHAVING CREAM! Not only does it clean well, but it leaves the room smelling fresh and the kids smiling!
We were so lucky to have such AMAZING student teachers this quarter! Thank you Ms. Derks and Mr. Enger for spending second semester with us!
Thank you for sharing your children with me. It was a pleasuring teaching each and everyone of them! Have a great summer! King Pickles and I will be hanging around and relaxing. We hope you do the same!
