Earthquake Miller hits the Lily Pad!

As a precursor to our Rocks and Minerals unit, students learned about the layers of the earth and about earthquakes.  After learning a bit about earthquakes, student groups were given the task to create earthquake proof structures.  Students were informed that buildings which survived earthquakes had  strong bases, were flexible, had strong support beams and were tall.  The students had a lot of fun building and testing their buildings prior to the true test....earthquake Miller!  Enjoy some of the snap shots and videos below.  I am providing a sampling of these photos and videos but the rest will be available on the MobileMe gallery at the end of the month.

Earthquake Miller Strikes

Earthquake Miller strikes again!

Onomatopoeia, Haiku, Cinquains, Similes, Metaphors
Our authors are embracing their inner poet these days.  Their creative juices have been following as they have written Haikus, Cinquains, Color poems, and sound poems.  We are working diligently to get all their poems written and published prior to our big event....The Poetry Tea.
Remember to reserve Thursday, December 22 from 9:00-10:30

The Hipper Hopper Drama Club now has a script in hand and auditions were held on Friday.  The auditions will continue on Monday.  I am continual impressed by the collaboration and cooperation this group displays.  We all cannot wait to see their production!
