Gallery Walk

Friday was the Lily Pad's gallery walk culminating our study of the Ho-Chunk people.  Student groups worked hard creating posters and presentations about their assigned topic (food, travel, the people, the land, etc.) Each group presented their information to the rest of the class and the parents in attendance.

Kudos to Miss Miller for her hard work and organization coordinating these group projects.  Kudos, too, to the students for working cooperatively and compassionately with each other.

Poetry Workshop
The students finished their persuasive writing unit and are now participating in a poetry workshop.  They are learning and practicing different forms of poetry.  This week Lily Padders wrote Cinquain poems and Haiku poems.  Authors penned several different poems, selected their favorites and wrote final copies.  These poems, along with other forms they will be creating, will be published in individual anthologies and the students will share several of their favorite poems at our Poetry Tea on Thursday, December 22.

I am continually in awe of the kindness and responsibility displayed by the students in the Lily Pad.  Several of our students have made it their mission to help me keep the books in the book corner organized and labeled.  On Thursday we had several students (and parents) stay for 1/2 hour after school and help clean and organize the book corner.  Thank you!
