Sharing in the Lily Pad

This is an informational post.  We have set up a sharing schedule in the Lily Pad.  Students have been assigned several times throughout the year in which they can share.  I have attached a copy of the Letter that was sent home and a copy of the sharing schedule.  Permanent copies of the letter and schedule are listed on our class website.

Dear Families,

We are starting something new on Tuesdays during our community time.  We will be taking turns sharing pictures, objects or events with our classmates and then asking questions to learn more about what is being shared. We are doing this so that all students have an opportunity to get positive attention and feel appreciated. This will also help us work on building a strong community filled with individuals who know each other and care about each other. By doing this we will also be meeting the speaking and listening standard that is located in the Common Core State Standards.

There are some things that would be appropriate to bring to class on the day that your child will be sharing and some things that we would like them to refrain from bringing. Below is a list of these things:

Approved sharing items	Please leave at home
Pictures Stories: “last week I went to the pumpkin patch” Collectors items Souvenirs from vacations Special family item Trophy or award	Toys Electronics Extremely valuable things Pets

If there is something that your child would like to bring but you are not sure if it is a toy or if you are not comfortable with them brining it because it is valuable or breakable, we suggest that you take a picture of it and then they can share the picture.
