Pancakes Galore
Friday was a fun way to celebrate the first month of third grade! We had pancakes, fruit and smiles in abundance!Thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time to cook, serve and clean AND to the families who donated items. We really enjoyed our pancakes and each other. After eating, students wrote some pancake poems. This is a great community event!
Farmers' Market
In third grade students learn about communities. We learn about producers, consumers, natural resources, goods, services, etc. Our trip to the Farmers' Market helps to bring these concepts to life.
Students were in small groups with an adult chaperone. They interviewed several vendors about their produce, their farm etc. As they were interviewing each farmer they were able to check out all the items (goods) for sale at the market. Then, on their second trip around the market, students were able to purchase items for the stone soup and for themselves!
On Thursday, each student will bring in an item to put in our stone soup. We read a few version of the Stone Soup tale and will recreate our own with our farm fresh items!
