History of Madison

Counting Money
In math we started working with money! It has been very exciting to
make change with the fake money. The real work application of this
skill has been useful in helping students make change.

Perimeter
We also started learning about what perimeter is and how we find the perimeter
of a rectangle. We practiced finding the perimeter of rectangular items in the classroom.
As a challenge, some students found the perimeter of the large carpet!

History of Madison
This week we began reading about the history of Madison. Many of us were suprised
to learn about what the area looked like many years ago compared to now. Each student worked
with a partner taking notes on important topics and details. To model
what impact the glaciers had on Madison's land formation, Ms.Winter did a
demonstration- Edible glaciers!

Writing Paragraphs
In writing we began taking our notes and writing paragraphs. Each topic
that they chose to research will have its own paragraph that will
be typed and put on their final poster! Everyone has done a great
job of taking detailed notes so that they can write informational
paragraphs that they will share with the audience on the final presentation day.

3rd Grade Country Gallery Walk
Just a reminder- The third grade country gallery walk will be taking
place on December 18th. We would love to have families join us for this
celebration where students will be presenting their research projects on
the country of their choice !
